Typhoon had a brilliant performance at the Nationals!

Although Typhoon fell short of stepping onto the podium for the Open 200m, we certainly made up for it by fighting our way to the Cup Major Final of every race category!

Over the years, we had been known for being a male dominated crew who were deadly over 200m.Whilst we have become stronger at 200m and are now 5 th in the UK, our mixed crew are now a force to be reckoned with at 6 th in the UK!
  • We now have enough ladies in both TT and HT to fields to compete in the Women's races.
  • Never were we taken seriously at 500m but this year we have proved ourselves by shooting up the ranks to 6 th and 5 th in the UK with our open and mixed crew respectively.
  • Last year, we were left for dead on the 1000m course! But this year we have been keeping up with the best in the country as we climbed the ranks to 6 th!

This is remarkable achievement considering our club was overstretched as we fielded 2 boats and had to race with 5 injured paddlers since we barely had any subs! special thanks to Chi, Dan, Phan, Wai-Hung and Sam for not letting their team down and paddling through the pain! You are true warriors in every sense!

Our progress hasn't gone unnoticed. Everyone was shocked when we burst back on the BDA scene at Teeside. Every team has been astounded by our progress throughout the season as we have gone from strength to strength. It is very touching to know that James from 3 Rivers crafted a trophy by hand to commend our achievements over the year. It's a great honour to be recognised as the Most Improved Crew and to be the first our team ever to be awarded this trophy! This is ours to keep until next year when we pass it on to the team who we believe deserves it the most (HT maybe?!). We have pathed the way for other teams to follow and set a high standard for other teams to reach! In the same way that we aspire to be like Batchworth, Amathus or Thames, I hope we inspire other teams to follow in our footsteps.

What a great end to a fantastic season. At the end of league we became Standard Division Champions and at the end of the Nationals we became 6 th best team in the country!

Bring on 2008!

A very very proud captain,
