Last year it was our first attempt at the course and even though we had trained tough for it, all that training never truly prepared us for paddling against tidal waves, weaving in and out of other boats paths and fighting for first entry through the bridges.  We finished 60th out of 268 Boats with a time of 2:35:33 and were 7th place in our category out of 16 Dragon boats.

See our race report from last year: GRR 2007

This year we are aiming to knock off 10 minutes off our times last year as we now know what to expect. The race will be starting from Richmond at 2pm and we aim to get to the finish line at 5:00pm depending on what time our category starts. Following us will be our Typhoon Chasers, racing from bridge to bridge to capture us on camera and video.

We are a charitable team and believe that all the money raised should go towards our chosen charity, last year we have supported charities such as NSPCC and Demelza House Children’s Hospice. We have raised over £4,000 for both charities.

This year we are looking to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign and have set up a justgiving website which transfers the money directly towards the charity. Please sponsor us and help us reach our target of raising £2,000, so even if it just £5 or £50 every bit of contribution will assist in helping save lives and making a difference to other people’s lives.
