Round 1 this Sun will see a noticeable absence of Typhoon paddlers (especially righties) and a considerable loss of firepower. No doubt it will be difficult keeping up with the likes of Senior Contenders, Masters International, Henley, Kingston Royals, Bristol Empire and BA Hurricanes, all of whom managed blistering fast times last year. But still, let's give them a run for money!

Bear in mind the bigger picture. The Henley Winter Series only plays a small part in our objectives this winter; our main objective is to improve our overall fitness and technique so that we start next season at our peak. The Henley Winter Series gives something to aim towards and measure our progress every month. If we can become accustomed to racing 7km over the winter, racing at 500m will be no sweat!

Round 1 of Henley Winter Series will not about kicking ass but more to do with providing opportunities (e.g. new pacers) and experience to our Hurricane brothers and sisters who will be lending their support. We may not do brilliantly, but we are there to do our best!
